Short answer: Your hearing aid likely thinks the button is being pressed over and over—most often from glasses or an oxygen cannula touching the toggle, or debris under the push button. Try the quick fixes below, and see your audiologist if it persists.
Q: My Signia hearing aid plays a tune every ~3 minutes. What’s going on?
A: Manufacturer support says the most likely cause is something bumping the toggle switch. Common culprits include eyeglasses and oxygen tubing. If neither applies, debris under the push button can make the aid think you’re pressing it repeatedly. A careful clean usually helps; if not, your audiologist can check in software whether the device is restarting or trying to change programs. Sometimes just connecting to the programming software resolves it; otherwise, the aid should be sent to Signia for repair.
Quick Fixes (Start Here)
- Check for contact — Make sure glasses or an oxygen cannula aren’t touching the toggle/push button area.
- Brush around the button — Use a small hearing-aid brush to gently clear debris around the push button and seams. (Hold the aid face-down so particles fall out.) See: Signia: Cleaning Your Hearing Aids.
- Power refresh — Place rechargeables in the charger for 30+ minutes or replace disposable batteries, then test again. See: Signia Troubleshooting.
- App check (optional) — If you use the Signia app, open it to confirm the program/volume aren’t changing unexpectedly; re-pair if needed: Signia Pairing & Connectivity and Signia App.
When to See Your Audiologist
If the tune keeps returning, visit your audiologist. They can connect the aids to Signia’s software to see if the devices are restarting on a loop or attempting program changes. Sometimes this connection/reset fixes it. If not, the aids should be sent to Signia for repair (warranty rules apply). See: Signia Support and Signia Repair Service.
