Phonak hearing aids are known for their reliability, advanced features, and innovative sound processing technology. In 2025, models such as the Audeo L (Lumity) and Audeo I (Infinio) join the already popular Marvel (M) and Paradise (P) rechargeable lines. While these devices are dependable, you may occasionally encounter charging issues—such as a solid red light—that require troubleshooting.

Although the pictures in this guide feature older models, the troubleshooting steps remain applicable for all Phonak rechargeable hearing aids, including Lumity and Infinio.

Recognizing Symptoms of Charging Issues

If one hearing aid flashes (any color) when placed in the charger but the other displays a solid red light, this typically indicates a charging problem.

  1. Switch the problematic hearing aid to the other charging port.
    – If it flashes, the issue is with the charger.
    – If it remains solid red, the problem is with the hearing aid.

Hard Resetting a Phonak Rechargeable Hearing Aid

For a persistent solid red light, try a hard reset:

  1. Hold the hearing aid’s button down for 20 seconds.
    – It may chime on/off during this process—keep holding.
  2. After 20 seconds, release the button.
  3. Place the hearing aid in the charger for 5 seconds to reactivate the battery.
  4. Repeat once if needed.

Light indicator meanings after reset:

  • Flashing red → 2–3 hours for full charge.
  • Flashing yellow → 1–2 hours to full charge.
  • Flashing green → Short charge needed.
  • Solid green → Fully charged.

If the light still shows solid red, contact your audiologist—it may need Phonak repair.

Dirty charger contacts can prevent proper charging.

If one side of the charger fails to work, the issue could be dirty battery contacts:

  1. Dip a q-tip in rubbing alcohol.
  2. Gently clean the charger ports to remove debris.

If cleaning doesn’t help, you may need a replacement charger—available from your audiologist or Amazon.
